Finite Or Infinite Nature Of Universe

This is an existential question that most people have asked themselves at one time or another: Is space infinite? This is a difficult question to answer as there are many types of infinity. The universe may seem infinitely vast even though it continues on for ever. It could be bound to the Earth’s surface. This would allow you unlimited travel and not ever find an edge.

The finite speed and distance of light mean that we only can see a fraction of the infinite universe. We can only see the parts that have had light reach us in the past 47 billion years. In theory, this means that we can see a spherical world with a radius of around 47 billion light year. You would probably conclude that the universe expanded faster than the speed at which light can reach it. This violates special relativity. This is what is supposed to have happened in a period known as “inflation”. It doesn’t violate particular relativity because it isn’t a spatial motion, but an expansion and contraction of space. The Universe doesn’t repeat. Since the dawn of time, light has been traveling towards our planet for 13.8 Billion Years this way. This is in addition to 13.8 Billion years and 13.8Billion years. They have been transported from 47.5 billion light-years away by the expansion of our Universe. This means that the Universe spans 93 billion light years. This is a “at minimum” figure. It could be 100 Billion light-years. We don’t really know. We might not know. It could be infinite.

If the Universe truly is infinite, then we get an interesting outcome. Something that will blow your mind for the rest of the day. Take a look at this. One cubic meter (or a yard) of space. A cubic meter or yard can hold a finite quantity of particles.

The Universe has only 1080 particles. This is much smaller than the number of possible combinations of matter within a cubic meter. If the Universe truly infinite, you can travel far beyond Earth to find a second cubic meter of space. You will find more duplicates as you travel further.

You will probably become an immortal version of yourself, and you’ll continue to find endless numbers of them. You’ll find duplicate universes of yours, with many more of yours collecting yours. One of them will be bald.
